Good AI + Video (app)

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗔𝗜 + 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼: When an AI asks us to direct a video, imagine dialogue, story, or mood, most of us freeze. Or we default to what we’ve seen a million times in ads, in movies, in theatre. 𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 → 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 → 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝗽. See the video including the VEO app on LinkedIn

You can see why this is the beginning of “video slop”. Similar to creative writing, people get stuck in prompt paralysis.

To explore this creatively, I built a simple app using Google’s VEO. It’s called 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 (API required for video generartion):

- You upload a still image.
- You describe what should happen next.
- You get an 8-second video.

Below you can see three quick videos I created with it. My topic was ‘Claude Code - the agentsphere’. My results were (in my own opinion) creepy, cringy and cutesy.

More importantly, building the actual 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 app helped me understand what it takes to tackle the fear of the blank canvas, the prompt paralysis, the drift into ‘video slop’.

Entries like presets, action, items, tone, dialogue can help. This app should gently nudge users away from the generic and toward something more original. 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲.

→ Prompting for video is a skill.
→ Build simple tools for it, that will grow your creative confidence.
→ You don’t need a script upfront, just a spark, a beginning.
→ And please help 'avoid the slop'.
